TCM's History — Japan's First Forklift
TCM stands for Toyo Carriers Manufacturing, founded in 1949 in Japan. The company built Japan's first internal-combustion forklift truck that same year. In 2010, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers certified it as Mechanical Engineering Heritage, recognizing the hydraulic lift system, rear-wheel steering, and right-hand lift lever that remain standard forklift features.
TCM joined the UniCarriers Group in 2012 alongside Nissan's forklift division. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries acquired UniCarriers in 2015, and the combined operations became Mitsubishi Logisnext in 2017.
